I worked with Oracle on a whitepaper that was published on OTN last week. This was a massive effort in implementing this very unique idea.
You can read the article on OTN here:

You logic is reckless! Ha! Good stuff. I thought it was interesting that they moved the bonding options to /etc/modprobe.conf being that Oracle Linux is a derivative of RHEL and Red Hat doesn’t recommend using that configuration any more. Also if you are going to have more than one bond interface, you’ll have to put the second bond’s options in the ifcfg-bondX file.
Thanks for reading Jeremy! Good catch on the bonding. While Redhat recommends against it, it doesn’t hurt anything either. I’ll make a note of this for our next release. Dell doesn’t bond the interconnects, only the public interfaces…so we didn’t consider more than one bond option. However, you are again absolutely correct on that point as well. Thanks!!!
Congrats, Jon. I can’t wait to see where you are taking this blog and your career along with it.
Getting maximum milage out of that performance objective I see. Good stuff man!
